Volunteerism & Giving

More than 170 years ago, the Y was founded by a group of volunteers who wanted to improve their communities. Today, Y volunteers and our supporters remain at the heart of our organization. It is only through the support of our hundreds of thousands of volunteers and public and private donors that we are able to serve more people and deliver on our cause to strengthen community.

Togetherhood®

Togetherhood® is the Y's member-led volunteer service program. It activates Y members to work together to plan and lead service projects that respond to local community needs.

Advocacy

We are a powerful ally and advocate for our communities. Our experience and strong relationships in 10,000 neighborhoods across the nation mean that we are able to organize grassroots efforts and influence public policy around a range of social issues including child welfare, education and public health.
